Ultrasound Imaging

Ultrasound allows for dynamic assessment of the muscles, joints and tendons in many parts of the body where other imaging modalities are unsuitable for dynamic assessment.

Several areas are suited to ultrasound assessment including muscles, joints and tendons of the:

  • Shoulder
  • Elbow
  • Hand
  • Wrist
  • Hip
  • Knee
  • Ankle
  • Foot

Ultrasound can also often assess lumps and bumps encountered at these areas.

As a non-invasive soft tissue imaging technique, diagnostic ultrasound can aid with diagnosis and injection placement.

Additionally, therapeutic ultrasound can be used in treatment of soft tissue problems.

To help with diagnosis and accurate medicine placement, ultrasound uses a special hand-piece or probe which emits sound waves into body tissues.

These sound waves are reflected from the tissues to the probe and the signal is converted to an image to enable us to see structures within the body.
